Scholar of classical Islam joins AIS for six months
Thomas Würtz will be joining the Arab and Islamic Studies program for the first half of 2015.
Thomas has been teaching Islamic theology and philosophy and Middle East history at the University of Bern for the last five years while completing a PhD dissertation at the University of Zurich on the later kalâm with a special focus on Sa´ddîn at-Taftâzânî (d. 1390). His MA is from Bamberg.
While at Aarhus, Thomas will be teaching in the Arab and Islamic Studies program and pursuing his interests in the Quran Commentary of al-Biqâ´î (d. 1480) and Quran translations into various European languages.
