New research project on externally supported democracy processes in Yemen
Maria-Louise Clausen is starting a PhD research project on how local actors seek and gain influence on externally supported democracy processes in Yemen and the Middle East.
Clausen will investigate how local actors negotiate and strategize within the framework of externally supported democratization and state building processes, and how that affects the country’s ability to deliver the expected or desired results at the macro level. The external actors influencing or supporting the democratization and state building efforts will also be included in the analysis.
Clausen joins the Department of Political Science with MAs in Political Science from the Univesity of Southern SDU Denamrk and Copenhagen University and a BA in Anthropology from Copenhagen University. She has visited Yemen several times between 2005 and 2009.
