In her lecture, Clausen discussed the general lessons to be learned about state-building interventions in 'fragile' states, how states can can be conceptualized, and how different conceptualizations influence the way state-building interventions should be studied. She showed how external actors can intervene in order to strengthen the state, and drew general lessons about state-building interventions.
